Why we chose
OpenEarth
We first learned about the OpenEarth foundation at the BICOWG Green House retreat. Things that stood out to us immediately were the sheer ambition and scale of their projects and the team's deep experience working with national governments. Policy is a huge lever in the climate fight, and it's important for policymakers to have access to the best technology to be able to make key decisions.
OpenEarth is building these fundamental tools while embracing the ethos of open source software, and that's why we're so excited about the work that they're doing!
- OpenClimate - a digitally-enabled independent global stocktake (pilot with British Columba)
- OpenSolar - solar data APIs for decentralized solar financing (pilot with Puerto Rico)
- Ocean Programs - tools for managing marine protected areas (pilot with Cocos Island)
